Psychotherapy

Evidence-based psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults of all ages

Supporting you to live the life that you love

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy offers a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space to explore your inner experiences and gain a deeper understanding of how past and present experiences influence your life now.

As a team, we offer evidence-based psychotherapy both in person in Huddersfield, Haworth, Mirfield and online, to children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. Alongside my own clinical work, I lead a trusted team of experienced accredited psychotherapists, each with different areas of specialism. This allows us to offer thoughtful, tailored support that is matched to your individual needs and goals.

Together, we work to understand what is getting in the way of you living the life you want, and to support meaningful and lasting change.

How psychotherapy can help

Psychotherapy can support you if you are experiencing:

  • Anxiety or ongoing worry
  • Low mood or depression
  • Trauma or distressing past experiences
  • PTSD
  • Phobias or panic
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Stress, overwhelm, burnout
  • Feeling lost or disconnected from yourself
  • Difficult life transitions or finding life adjustments, challenging
  • Low self-esteem
  • Health anxiety

This list isn’t exhaustive.

If you’re struggling with any part of your mental health or wellbeing in a way that’s getting in the way of the life you want to live or your ability to fully care for yourself, that alone is a good enough reason to seek support.

If you’re unsure whether psychotherapy could help with what you’re experiencing, you’re warmly invited to get in touch for a free, no-obligation call. We can talk through your needs and goals, and share how we believe we may be able to support you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with Laura Greenwood Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based psychological therapy that supports you to understand the links between your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours.

CBT focuses on what is maintaining your current difficulties in the here and now, while also exploring how these patterns may have developed through earlier life experiences.

Through CBT, we work together to increase awareness of unhelpful patterns, develop practical tools for change, and support you to move towards a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with who you are.

CBT is a collaborative process. Nothing is done to you. We engage in therapy together, with you in control at every stage and your therapist supporting the process.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps you process traumatic or distressing memories that can feel stuck in the mind and body.

By gently focusing on aspects of a memory, including the thoughts, emotions and physical sensations connected to it, while using bilateral stimulation such as eye movements or tapping, EMDR supports the brain and body to fully process these experiences.

As this happens, memories often lose their emotional intensity, allowing you to feel calmer, more grounded and more in control in the present moment.

EMDR can be helpful for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, phobias and other difficulties where past experiences continue to impact day-to-day life.

Other Therapeutic Modalities

Alongside our core treatments of CBT and EMDR, we also offer other evidence-based treatment approaches that are tailored to meet your individual needs and therapeutic goals.

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is about learning how to treat yourself the way you’d treat someone you care about. It helps reduce self-criticism and shame, and strengthens feelings of safety, connection, and confidence. As compassion grows, it becomes easier to navigate challenges and move toward a life that feels more true to you.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you make space for difficult thoughts and feelings instead of getting stuck fighting them. It teaches skills for noticing what your mind does, staying present, and choosing actions that align with what matters most to you.
Rather than trying to “fix” or eliminate discomfort, ACT supports you in building a life guided by values — with more flexibility, authenticity, and meaning along the way.

Interpersonal Therapy for Adolescents (IPT-A)

Interpersonal Therapy for Adolescents (IPT-A) focuses on how relationships and communication affect mood and wellbeing. It helps young people make sense of conflicts, changes, losses, or stressful social situations, and gives them practical tools for navigating friendships, family dynamics, and school life.

By improving how they express feelings and connect with others, adolescents often find their confidence grows and their mood lifts, making day-to-day life feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

A tailored and supportive approach

Therapy is not one size fits all. Some people benefit from CBT, others from EMDR, and many from a combination of all the evidence-based approaches we are able to offer, over time.

We will regularly review your progress and ensure the therapy continues to feel supportive, collaborative and suited to your needs. The pace and focus of the work is always guided by you.

I felt instantly drawn to Laura as I followed her on Instagram, so she was front of mind when I needed support learning to be the parent, that I myself needed. After experiencing huge change and transition in my life, I reached out to Laura as I wanted to work on creating a sense of safety from within, when it felt like my world was shifting on every level. I felt so held, heard and understood by her from our first interaction. The EMDR work we did was so helpful in addressing certain triggers. I’ve tried a lot of therapeutic modalities, but I was new to EMDR and it was powerful stuff! I still don’t know how it works - but it did and it continues to be a practice for me to self soothe. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second in recommending Laura. She helped me see things in 4 sessions that years of therapy had failed to bring to the surface. Thank you Laura, you are such a gift.

Julie

I finished my sessions with Laura about 6 weeks ago, and honestly they have helped me so much. We did approximately 6 sessions over the course of a few months. We did a mixture of talking therapy, CBT & EMDR therapy. It's something I've been aware I needed/wanted to do for many years but it took me until this year to take the leap which coincidentally landed with me being pregnant too. Which just seemed like the perfect timing, in hindsight. I had a few niggles and behaviours that I was projecting, which was affecting not only me but also my loved ones. But honestly, since the sessions with Laura, these said behaviours haven't shown up since. I also went in to the sessions at the beginning a little dubious with the mindset of "I don't think anything can help me". But I was so wrong! I'm feeling much more content, comfortable and confident in myself in every aspect of my life.
